VISCOSITY DYNAMICS AND KINEMATICS OF GAS OR LIQUID FLUID

  • Two layers of fluid moving around one another generate a friction force who is proportional to:

    • their surface

    • their relative speed (one over the other),

    • and inversely proportional to the distance that separates them.

(Detail converter integrated mecaflux)

the coefficient of proportionality binding surface, speed and distance to the friction force is the coefficient of dynamic viscosity "n".The legal unit of dynamic viscosity is the pascal second (po-s) or Poiseuille (PI)

This coefficient varies with temperature and fluid.

if we divide the coefficient of dynamic viscosity by the density of the fluid we obtain a ratio used in certain formulas. This coefficient is called kinematic viscosity and its unit is m² / s.

It is sometimes referred to as Stokes (St) or centistokes (cSt) .1 m² / s = 10 000St = 1 000 000cSt

In the editor of fluid / viscosity included in Mecfalux, you can choosing a fluid and temperature, this choice determines the dynamic viscosity.

The Fluid editor allows you to set / save a viscosity for a gas or liquid of your choice depending on temperature registered in the database viscosity of fluids in your software. The database of fluids viscosities , gases or liquids, integrated Mecaflux has 85 liquids and 35 gas whose dynamic viscosity is given as a function of temperature. In selecting the temperature of the choosen fluid, you refresh the dynamic viscosity, kinematic viscosity, temperature and density of your fluid in the calculation of pressure losses.

The editor of fluid viscosity:

The Fluid editor allows you to set / save a viscosity for a gas or liquid of your choice depending on temperature registered in the database viscosity of fluids in your software

A window named "home maid viscometer" allows you to evaluate the dynamic viscosity of a fluid with with some usual objects (Menu Tools MECAFLUX)

Converter unit and its viscosity tab, to convert the kinematic viscosity and dynamic viscosity
